Bellsouth DSL Configuration with Linksys Router in Windows XP 1. Turn off computer and DSL modem 2. Connect computer directly to DSL modem via ethernet or USB cable 3. Turn on DSL modem, then computer - wait 2 minutes 4. Open internet explorer(IE) and in the address window type: 192.168.1.254, then hit "Enter" 5. DSL modem setup page will appear, click on "Expert" 6. Change connection type to "Bridged Ethernet", then click on "Save and Restart" 7. Turn off computer and DSL modem 8. Install the new router - Modem to WAN port on router / computer to LAN port on router 9. Turn on DSL modem, Router, and Computer 10. Open Internet Explorer and in the address window type: 192.168.1.1, then hit enter. Should be in router setup. 11. Goto "Connection Type" - change to "PPOE", Enter correct Username & Password, then hit "Save and Restart" 12. Close IE and goto: Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Network Connections 13. Right click on "Local Area Connection", then "Properties", then double click on "Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)" 14. Tic ONLY the "Use the following DNS server addresses: In Jacksonville, change addresses to: Preferred DNS server: 205.152.144.23 Alternate DNS server: 205.152.37.23 15.
